BENNOS HIT – Born April 2000, 14.1 HH, chestnut with blaze and four white socks. Bennos Hit is an exceptional German Sport Pony stallion standing in Ontario Canada. He was winner of “Best of Year” at the 2002 pony stallion inspections at Mecklenburg-Voorpommern, Germany.
In 2004 he was awarded first premium with the American Sport Pony Registry and is an ASPR licensed pony stallion. He has also been accepted as an approved breeding stallion with the American Paint Pony Registry. Bennos Hit has a great disposition, excellent conformation, wonderful paces and form over fences. He received a score of 8 for his scope over fences at the ASPR inspection in April 2004.
In June 2005 he was invited to participate in the Pony Dressage clinic with Cornelia Endres, National Trainer of German Pony Dressage Riders hosted by Lendon Gray. He received wonderful comments about his outstanding canter.
In 2006 Bennos Hit qualified for the Star Search Sport Pony Challenge Final at the RWAF and was one of the top four finalists. In 2009 he was second in the stallion class for Sport Ponies at the Royal Winter Fair
His first foal in Canada, from a quarantine test mare, received a ASPR score of 7.4 and was ASPR 2004 Reserve Futurity Champion in Eastern Canada. In 2005, his foal Bennington was ASPR high score foal in Canada with a score of 7.9 and was tied for second place in USA. In 2006 and 2007, all his foals were awarded First Premium Status at the ASPR inspections. In 2006 Bennos Dream owned by Anne and Jim Mason was the Saturday site champion.
Since the winter of 2008 Jane has been riding Ben with Lorraine Stubbs and he has progressed up the dressage levels. In 2008 he was the Training level champion at the Silver Championships, 2010 he ws the Open Level 1 Champion again at the Championships and started 2011 as the Level 1 Champion at his first Gold Dressage Show. In 2009 and 2011 he was selected, based on show results to participate in the Cadora sponsored Stephen Clarke dressage clinincs.
During 2011 we showed Ben at several of the sport pony shows and he quickly qualified for the Royal under saddle and on the line. He was champion sport pony at Arthur Fair and reserve champion at Barrie Fair. At the 2011 Royal Winter Fair he won the gelding class and then went on to be Grand Champion Sport Pony.

It is with great sadness that we had to put Zeus down in October 2006
Kemurs Zeus has sired numerous riding and driving ponies before we purchased him in 1999. His wonderful personality which seems to be passed on to his offspring has made him many fans over the years. Welsh breeders still comment about his wonderful trot and remember when he was first shown by Keith and Chris Murray to many Welsh championships.
When we purchased him he had been a breeding stallion for 10 years. We knew he had been shown in harness so one day we hitched him. He was perfect so we continued to show him in pleasure driving until he was retired. Even today he can easily be handled by a child as his manners are outstanding for a pony stallion.
Along with breeding to Welsh mares, Zeus has been bred to outside horse mares for the past couple of years. These mare owners wanted to produce good moving large ponies with great personalities. In 2005 and 2006 several foals from this cross have been amazing. We are retaining two cross bred foals for showing and one welsh mare for breeding.

We acquired Hawkeye in the summer of 2005 because his breeding is very similar to our driving pony, Alderdale Black Magic. He has a great temperament and outstanding movement. He had not been handled until we purchased him but his mild attitude made it easy to get him ready for the Royal Winter Fair. We have started to drive him and he also learned this discipline very quickly. We were thrilled at the Royal Winter Fair in 2005 with his manners and attitude. This was his first show and he handled it like a pro. Other exhibitors commented on his manners and were surprised that he was a stallion. He was awarded the Reserve Champion Section A stallion or gelding. This was wonderful considering he had been “running free” when we purchased him in July 2005.
Since then we have been driving Hawkeye in a pair and as the leader in a tandem at the farm. Also we have used him as a leader in a four in hand for fun. He has the greatest personality and you wouldn’t know he was a stallion. And he is passing on this great attitude to his offspring. In 2010 he was shown by a novice driver at the Royal and the fall fairs.
Our first foals arrived in 20010 by Alderdale Nighthawk and they are lovely. All three foals have his beautifiul large welsh eyes and his colour. I hope we have some time to show them on the the line in 2011.
Alderdale Nighthawk’s full brother, Alderdale Jesse has sired some lovely small hunter ponies.
